Apaxon Core
Available nowThe plugin every other Apaxon plugin needs.
Core handles licensing, settings, permissions, health checks and the connections to the plugins you already use — once, so no Apaxon plugin ships its own copy of that machinery and you configure it all in one place. Free, and it stays free.
- Free forever
- No account required
- GPLv2 or later
What it does.
Connected sources
Core reads the plugins you already run — WPForms today, more over time — so an Apaxon plugin can use that data without asking you to replace anything.
Encrypted secrets
API keys and passwords are sealed with libsodium before they reach your database, so a stolen backup is no longer a credential dump.
Granular permissions
Let a receptionist manage bookings without making them an administrator who can install plugins and edit users.
One settings screen
Every Apaxon plugin registers its settings with Core, so they all look the same and live in the same place — in light, dark, or whichever your device is set to.
Site health checks
Licence state, scheduled tasks, PHP end-of-life, HTTPS, the file editor. Findings appear in Apaxon Tools and in WordPress Site Health.
Activity log
A readable record of what Apaxon did on your site, kept locally for 30 days and grouped by channel.
Why it exists
Six plugins shouldn’t mean six of everything.
A typical WordPress plugin suite ships six settings screens, six update mechanisms, six ways of storing an API key, and six chances to get one of them wrong. Core does each of those once, properly, and every plugin built on it inherits the result.
- One licence key activates everything your plan includes
- One settings screen, with the same controls behaving the same way
- One update path, signature-verified before installation
- One permission model, so delegation doesn’t mean handing over the site
Free and paid
Paid plugins add code. They never unlock it.
There is no feature in a free Apaxon plugin sitting behind a licence check, and no cap waiting to be lifted. If you can see it, you have it — custom fields are unlimited, contacts are unlimited, and there is no per-user charge. Buying a paid plugin installs additional code that was not there before.
- Nothing in a free plugin is disabled, capped or time-limited
- Paid plugins are separate plugins, not switches
- WordPress.org forbids feature gating in directory plugins, and we agree with the rule
- What you pay for is updates, support and the platform
What happens if you stop paying
Nothing switches off.
A lapsed subscription pauses updates and support. It does not disable your plugins, delete your data or take your site down. Paid features fall back to their free equivalents and everything you have built keeps working.
- Your data stays where it is
- Core caches entitlements, so an outage on our side changes nothing for 14 days
- Reactivating restores paid features immediately

Questions
Do I need a licence key to use Core?
No. Core is fully functional without one, and nothing in it is held back. A key is only needed by the paid plugins you buy, so they can check for their own updates.
What does Core send to Apaxon?
When you have a licence key: your site address, and the WordPress, PHP and plugin version numbers, so we can validate the licence and warn you about vulnerabilities affecting your setup. Never anything about your visitors.
Will it slow my site down?
Core does no work on front-end page loads. Settings are stored non-autoloaded, licence checks run on a schedule rather than per request, and the admin stylesheet only loads on Apaxon screens.
Is it really GPL?
Yes, GPLv2 or later, like WordPress itself. The subscription buys the service around the code — hosting, signing, updates, support — not permission to run it.
What happens if Apaxon disappears?
Your plugins keep working. Core caches entitlements and falls back gracefully when it cannot reach us, and everything is GPL — under that licence the right to run code you already have cannot be withdrawn.
